This was supposed to be a quick doodle of someone I saw on the street on Monday but escalated into a full character design
Gravity Falls has some incredibly beautiful artwork (and is an amazing show!) and I was doing some still studies the other day and I always thought this little photograph still was cute. I’ll probably do a few more because the show has great colors but I thought I’d post just this one for now.
Working on more mermaids! I don’t post a lot of progress/work in progress shots but I actually took screenshots of this one and I haven’t posted in awhile so I thought I’d share. This was number… 3 on the palette sheet I believe, I’ll post it with the final~
Sorry about my absence, I’ve been out of the country but I am back now!
Mermaid based on one of the palettes from that palette challenge that has been floating around
I want to do all 100 palettes with different mermaids (because when in doubt draw mermaids). I will probably post more than one at a time in the future but it’s late so I wanted to get this one up to motivate me to do more. Anyone who knows me knows how much I like to draw mermaids so this should be something fun to keep me drawing
So I was going through my old blog and externals looking for something when I stumbled upon these. My advanced concept art class had us do blind copies and real copies of a piece of art of our choosing one day and I always thought the blind one was so funny (it’s a real beauty isn’t it) the original is this lovely concept art by james aaron finch for princess and the frog.
For the blind copy we looked at the original for about a minute, if i recall correctly, and then just had to work from memory. For the actual copy we of course got to use our image as reference but it was still timed
I needed a break from some environment studies so I drew up a quick Martha Jones!
